Planning Board

The Colebrook Planning Board meets monthly at 7pm on the second Tuesday of the month. Application forms are available from the Town Clerk whose office is at the Town Hall, 10 Bridge Street. The Town hall is open normal business hours Monday through Friday. The Town Clerk's hours can be seen here.

Site Plan

To operate a business in a location where a business has previously existed, one applies for a Waiver of Site Plan, which is usually granted at the Board meeting. To operate a business where one does not exist, or for one which would involve substantial change, one submits a Site Plan Application. A public hearing is scheduled and the hearing is usually held during the next meeting. Fees are nominal.

Building Permit

Building permits are granted at the monthly Planning Board meetings. An application should be completed before the meeting and a representative should be present at the meeting, but it is not essential. Normally permits are approved at the meeting unless there is something wrong on the application or the Board has a question which cannot be answered. The permit is effective as of the date of approval; mailing usually occurs within a few days.

Sign Permit

Sign permits are also granted at the monthly Planning Board meetings. Just like building permits, the application should be completed and submitted prior to the meeting. Signs in Colebrook are restricted to 36 square feet. Illumination is permitted, but flashing or moving signs are not.

Water & Sewer

The Town provides municipal water and sewer. The procedure is to apply at the Town Hall for service.

Utilities

Power is provided by Public Service of New Hampshire or New Hampshire Electric Co-op. Telephone service is supplied by Verizon. Internet service can be provided by many carriers including North Country Internet Access, Verizon, Earthlink, MV Communications, ASPI, TogetherNET, Wild Blue, with more being added each day. Both dialup and broadband are available. Broadband is available as dsl, and t-1 as well as our own, soon to be launched wireless broadband. (see our Broadband page)

Local Services

Colebrook has two banks, Citizens Bank and The First Colebrook Bank. There are numerous bookkeeping services, Certified Public Accountants, office supply stores
